At Black Forest Academy, student residences are staffed by full-time missionary house parents and residence assistants who are actively involved in nurturing and mentoring the students. They also perform the duties of cooking, maintenance, laundry, transportation and many other tasks to provide the utmost care for the students. The BFA Residence Program is unique for several reasons. First, the residences are located in the numerous villages surrounding Kandern. Secondly, there are no national employees working in the residences. Boarding students are taught responsibility through daily and weekly assigned chores. Each residence builds community and creates its own identity through traditions, weekly dorm fellowship times, and special birthday customs.
